Biography

 

Lorenzo Bocci was born in Cecina, Tuscany, in 1975.

He began his studies of musical theory and trumpet when he was eight years old.

At the age of 12, he started playing in a concert band, where he became acquainted with both concert band repertoire and band instrumentation.

After completing his studies, he obtained his degree in trumpet at the Musical Institute “Pietro Mascagni” in Livorno.

Bocci has played with various orchestras as well as classical and jazz ensembles.

He has performed in Italy and abroad, and has taken part in Youth Music Festivals held in Holland (1992) and Hungary  (1995).

Lorenzo Bocci completed his military service in the Concert Band of the Italian Army as a trumpet player and as an assistant in the musical archives.

During this time, Lorenzo Bocci had the opportunity to learn more about the history, instrumentation, and conducting of concert bands, under the guide of the conductor Fulvio Creux, with whom he still has a friendly relationship.

Lorenzo Bocci has attended concert band conducting courses with the conductors Daniele Carnevali (Prato 2000 – Cremona 2000) and Lorenzo della Fonte (Firenze 2001/2002).

He is also conductor of the Società Filarmonica Peccioli (Pisa) and the Filarmonica
“Pietro Mascagni” in Cecina (Livorno).

He has conducted from 2001 to 2006 the Filarmonica “Giuseppe Verdi” in San Vincenzo (Livorno) and from 2006 to 2009 the Società Filarmonica Pisana (Pisa).

 

In addition, Lorenzo Bocci is a teacher of brass instruments and ensemble music at various music schools.

 

Lorenzo Bocci is a arranger and composer of pieces for concert band, orchestra, chamber, and wind ensemble.

Since 2001 his works are published under the labels De Haske Publications and Mitropa Music.
